You don’t try to build a wall. You don’t set out to build a wall. You don’t say ‘I’m going to build the biggest, baddest, greatest wall that’s ever been built.’ You don’t start there. You say ‘I’m gonna lay this brick as perfectly as a brick can be laid,’ and you do that every single day, and soon you have a wall. — Will Smith
“Visualize your ‘best possible self.’ This is an exercise that has been shown to increase your feelings of happiness and well-being. It involves two basic steps: visualizing how the ‘future you’ looks when you’ve achieved your goals, and identifying the characteristics you need to use (or learn) to get you to where you want to be. Begin by imagining yourself in the future, when you have gotten to where you want to be. Pick a few goals and imagine that you have achieved them. Make sure they’re personally meaningful, not external markers of status. Visualize what this future-you is like. Imagine all the details of what success looks like. For example, if your dream has always been to be a musician, what does success look like for you? How much do you work? Who do you work with? What do you create? How do you feel about your work? Write down all the details of this scenario. Then, imagine what characteristics you will need to use to get you there. For example, becoming a successful musician probably requires things like perseverance, creativity, patience, and energy. Consider which of these traits and skills you already have. You may even surprise yourself with what you already know and can do. When you notice traits or skills that need further development, think about ways you can build up those things.” —Napoleon Hill, Think and Grow Rich
“You know what I do when I feel completely unoriginal? I make a noise or I do something that no one has ever done before. And then I can feel unique again even if it’s only for like, a second.” —Garden State
These are human experiences and we need them. We need to learn about each other’s values and beliefs and we can’t simply do it through the internet. These mirror neurons don’t light up when we’re sending texts or receiving IM messages. ... Trust is human. It’s about human interaction. It’s about real conversations. —Simon Sinek
What I love most about rivers is you can't step in the same river twice. The water's always changing, always flowing. But people, I guess, can't live like that. We all must pay a price to be safe, we lose our chance of ever knowing what’s around the river bend, waiting just around the riverbend. I look once more just around the riverbend, beyond the shore where the gulls fly free, don’t know what for. What I dream, the day might send just around the riverbend. For me, coming for me, I feel it there beyond those trees, or right behind these waterfalls. Just around the riverbend. Beyond the shore, somewhere past the sea, don’t know what for. Why do all my dreams extend just around the riverbend?Just around the riverbend, should I choose the smoothest course steady as the beating drum? Should I marry Kocoum? Is all my dreaming at an end? Or do you still wait for me, dream giver, just around the riverbend? —Pocahontas
“We are the products of our past, but we don’t have to be prisoners of it.” — Rick Warren, Purpose Driven Life
You only get one shot. Do not miss your chance to blow this opportunity, comes once in a lifetime. His soul's escaping, through this hole that is gaping. This world is mine for the taking. Make me king, as we move toward a New World Order. A normal life is borin', but super stardom's close to post mortem. He's nervous, but on the surface he looks calm and ready. Snap back to reality, ope there goes gravity. You better lose yourself in the music, the moment. You own it, you better never let it go. πΆ — 8 Mile, Eminem #newyorkminute #carpeerrrthang

Consciousness seems to be nature’s ingenious mode of self-torture. | Because consciousness must involve both pleasure and pain, to strive for pleasure to the exclusion of pain is, in effect, to strive for the loss of consciousness. Because such a loss is in principle the same as death, this means that the more we struggle for life (as pleasure), the more we are actually killing what we love. | Life and death are not two opposed forces; they are simply two ways of looking at the same force, for the movement of change is as much the builder as the destroyer. — Alan Watts, The Wisdom of Insecurity (p: 38, 32, 41)
“She said: “We all spend our twenties and thirties trying so hard to be perfect, because we’re so worried about what people will think of us. Then we get into our forties and fifties, and we finally start to be free, because we decide that we don’t give a damn what anyone thinks of us. But you won’t be completely free until you reach your sixties and seventies, when you finally realize this liberating truth—nobody was ever thinking about you, anyhow.” β Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic: Creative Living Beyond Fear
Show vs tell. Walk vs talk. Do vs think.
“Do whatever brings you to life, then. Follow your own fascinations, obsessions, and compulsions. Trust them. Create whatever causes a revolution in your heart.”β Elizabeth Gilbert, Big Magic

“The vision is true north for the soul. It is a permanent, intuitive compass direction for a human being. Every person inevitably strays from the path. Life is an endless experiment and course correction. The vision brings one back to the true path.” -Thomas G. Bandy

“The beginning of freedom is the realization that you are not the Thinker. The moment you start watching The Thinker, a higher level of Consciousness becomes activated. You then begin to realize there is a vast realm of intelligence beyond thought, that thought is only a tiny aspect of that Intel. You also realize that all the things that truly matter: beauty, love, creativity, joy, inner peace, arise from beyond the mind. You begin to awaken.” -Eckhart Tolle #ithinkthereforenothing
Life is but a walking shadow, a poor player that struts and frets his hour upon the stage and then is heard no more. It is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury signifying nothing. —Macbeth
“Long term relationships are tough. You can't just expect a big, roaring fire right away, right? You know, you can't put the big logs in first. You start with the small stuff. Kindling, all right? Then you add that, then you put in the big logs and then you have a roaring fire. And that's a good relationship. But be careful, sometimes kindling is hard to find, you know? Good wood. So, don't take it for granted.” -Master of None π₯#slowburn
MOOD. So I took Bronty out for an art walkπ¦π I absolutely LOVE when leaves look like watercolors, fluid, bleeding into another hue. Each leaf, unique in its colorations, an art piece framed within itself, or else beautifully laid out like a collection amongst the other leaves. So as I pass the neighbors’ yards, my eyes remain glued to the artful colors. I do a double-take like I’m that guy in the meme checking out a girl walking by, craning my neck to check out a fine piece of meat, but instead I’m checking out fine piece of leaf.π Staring like I’m figuring out an ink blot Rorschach test seeping into my psyche, illuminating the abstract right brain. (“The colors, Duke, the colors!”) Pantones melding like an acid trip at the SF botanical gardens, when the leaves, colors all melt and flow into a screensaver. Gazing at the colors like a 90’s magic eye poster, trying to open up the third eye in third dimensionπ. Standing there on the sidewalk quietly zoning in on the beauty, respectfully soaking in a masterpiece like at a museum. Except a small part of my conscious mind is still aware I’m just a weirdo standing in front of someone’s house, staring off into seemingly nothing — to which I scurry off paranoid someone will holler out to “get off my lawn!”ππΌ@AMUSETHEMUSES

One of the things I absolutely love about New York is the actual evidence of seasons. Spring flowers are really noticeable in Spring! For all of the quarantine quarter of March, April, May, I saw the gradual shift of pretty blossoms bloom from trees and then rain down like a pink petal shower. Eventually pooling to the sides of the sidewalk as if a celebratory event just occurred, the petals spill on the ground like the confetti after New Year’s at Times Square. There’s a specific street in Brooklyn on Jefferson Street where I like to walk due to all the flowers they plant in their garden. I passed these beautiful tulips, to which I had no idea there were such a thing as TWO-tone TU-LIPS! Absolutely beautiful. Upon showing the pics to my parents, my mom reveals that tulips actually only blossom really quickly once a year, never to re-bloom again. You’d have to plant a whole new batch each year, but ain’t no body got time for that! (Actually I just looked it up, it depends, but I guess usually they may only have a few annual regenerations if outside of their usual climate). So anyway the point is, it’s amazing to have caught the short time the tulips were blossomed. It was just the perfect timing of my taking a walk on that certain street during that certain week. Reminds me a lot of the common recurring theme I’m running into of Memento Mori or Ichi-go, Ichi-e. (Or even Valar Morghulis!) In which all men must die and all tulips must die in this case, an emphasis of how short life can be, yet how beautiful the rarity is of a once-in-a-lifetime encounter. When you’re walking the 8 mile road of life to remember “you only get one shot, do not miss your chance..this opportunity comes once in a lifetime, yo.” π·πΆ @AMUSETHEMUSES

The air is always fresh right after the rain, the colors more saturated and vibrant. A certain stillness and calm covers the earth as if the rain covered the earth with more than just water droplets. A metaphoric washing away, appropriately called a shower, a revitalization, a putting the wet in poetic. (Aha, and now your mind is in the gutter where the rainwater just went through.) Anyhoo, I’ve been making it a point to go outside at least once a day. And although there isn’t much to do, it’s noticing and appreciating the small details, stopping to smell the air after the rain, and admiring the flowers along the way.π MUSES:
